Hello everyone,
Apologies for the radio silence over the past few weeks!! Things have been pretty busy behind the scenes, but I know I owe you all a drop (thank you for all the lovely messages asking about when it’s coming!!). Read on for a little update about where we stand, what’s been going on, and when the new drop will finally go live…
Back in September, I set out to test the idea behind the drop - a community-driven way to make local, artisanal products a bit more accessible. I wasn’t sure if anybody would be keen on it, and wanted to find an easy way to ‘give it a go’. With a simple newsletter, a pretty ‘artisanal’ website, and a handful of posters, the ‘first draft’ of the drop was born.
Much to my surprise, and thanks to all of you, the little test went quite well! We reached over 100 subscribers in just a few weeks, sold hundreds of products and received really encouraging feedback from producers and customers alike. I also realised just how much joy it brings me to run drops - finding products people love, connecting with independent producers and lovingly packing up your orders is so. much. fun.
The past few weeks have been spent trying to figure out how to take this from ‘test mode’ to something that can grow and flourish into a thriving community buying club. A BIG thank you to those of you that kindly met up with me to share your ideas on how we can do this - from new product suggestions, to a voting feature and improved website design, I can’t wait to bring all of your ideas to life :)
I was hoping to get a new and improved drop up and running before Christmas but, as we know, things made well are often made slowly (and learning how to make a proper website took a lot longer than expected…).
So, I’ll be back in the new year with Drop 5, and a few exciting improvements. In the meantime, wishing you all a very merry Christmas.
Amy xx
